About Vincent V. Toscano

Tech Director

Top Takeaways

  • I have an expert-level working-knowledge of front-end technologies CSS, HTML and JavaScript (vanilla) programming. I enjoy figuring out very complex interactions and love web development projects that exercise semantic markup (head on over to my home page and run Lighthouse). I’m happy to share samples upon request or you can check out some small sound bites on my CodePen or GitHub.
  • Won over 30 awards, both for projects I've personally authored and those I've successfully managed. If you visit my portfolio samples on this site, you’ll see callouts to some of these awards but the standouts are an Emmy for my work on JFK Memorial Library and for an Agency Lifetime Achievement Award from FWA.
  • I believe that cohesive teams produce the best work. As a director/manager, I take the time to recognize personal team achievements during the journey, and not only the finished product. Building a rapport with those that I manage builds trust in me that I’ll best represent their work to all stakeholders and enables me to gain a comprehensive understanding of each team member's capabilities and provide support wherever needed.

My Journey

I am a tech-focused professional working out of the Los Angeles area with 10+ years of service in the advertising and digital product industries. Ultimately, I excel at managing technical and creative teams to achieve project-specific goals for clients ranging from start-ups (Bingie) to well-established brands like Google, Hyundai, and Lexus.

Starting off my career in New York, I worked as a developer while also providing creative support (I have a BFA). When I moved to L.A., I focused strictly on my development operations and quickly gained recognition for my work on interactive projects for 2K Games’ Borderlands (social media tie-in whereby I created shaders to alter UGC), holiday price index microsite for PNC Bank, Sundance (multiple show-themed websites), and The Vampire Diaries (season-long release cycle to which coincided with newly released episodes).

After joining Tool of North America, I was consistently promoted from Senior Interactive Developer, Technology Manager, and then, Director of DevOps. Throughout my career, I've been involved in a multitude of digital projects, achieving significant milestones such as winning an Emmy for the JFK Memorial Library: Clouds Over Cuba interactive multimedia website. I've also contributed to in-store activations for Under Armour, spearheaded the development of various Google AR and VR initiatives, and overseen corporate website projects like the one with Dunbar Armored. I also played a pivotal role in engineering the infrastructure for a Super Bowl website for T-Mobile and Amazon Web Services (AWS), which generated dynamic personalized videos through user-generated content (UGC). Additionally, I've been instrumental in bringing live streaming platforms to an audience of 31,000 concurrent users.

About Vincent V. Toscano: Vincent V. Toscano

My move to management was very natural. I’ve always enjoyed representing work to clients and managing the production internally. The catalyst for this change came about while working on a project for a Forbes top-five earnings client on their 30 year anniversary celebration campaign and software. This was a very demanding job that ran 7 days a week for months. During the production, my supervisor at the time gave me the responsibility to act in his place, as I was attending work at all hours of the night and on occasion, I would fly to their headquarters in Cupertino, CA to oversee development operations and meet with the client’s creative stakeholders. At the culmination of this project, I established some of my management style tent poles that are still in use today. Our client received public recognition for the completed interactive project, and to our surprise, some visitors to the site were so captivated by the custom web font that they extracted it for personal use.

Over the course of the next few years I would continue to work for companies that catered to big brands and deliver campaign-driven work. Beyond that, I expanded my reach into working with brands to create digital products and ecommerce websites. Given the nature of this type of work, I indoctrinated myself with organizational paradigms that could best-support this type of software development process.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking for my family, building Linux-based servers, developing front-end demos for my team, and gaming. Because I have roots in art, I am an avid museum goer and make it a point to step away from my computer to sketch frequently.
