I was part of the go-to-market team for the GoDaddy Venture Forward (VF) project, which aimed to measure how online microbusinesses contribute to their local economies. We worked with various research partners, such as the Milken Institute, Harvard Business Review, UCLA Anderson Forecast, Bureau of Labor Statistics, University of Iowa Department of Political Science, Arizona State University School of Public Affairs, Economic Innovation Group, and U.S. Census Bureau, to gather and analyze data from over 30,000 entrepreneurs since 2019. We published quarterly reports, articles, surveys, and interactive data visualizations on a website that we built using WordPress. The live website can be accessed at the home of Venture Forward. Our project helped the US government allocate funds for supporting microbusiness growth.

GoDaddy Venture Forward Explore How Ventures Are Impacting Your Local Economy

Microbusinesses are small businesses that have less than 10 employees, low annual revenue, and minimal startup costs. The U.S. Census Bureau and the Small Business Administration (SBA) define them as companies with less than 10 employees. Microbusinesses have been a major force in the economy in recent years.

I developed some of the key pages for the website, both frontend and backend, and also set up a production environment with a DevOps pipeline for building, testing, and deploying the code. I also managed a team that delivered new pages and content over the years. Our target audience included civil servants, mayoral teams, academics, the U.S government, and policymakers. We learned how to present the data in a clear and compelling way for them. Our data visualizations covered the impact of 20 million microbusinesses across the US.
